This weekend I got to go on a big adventure to Baja Mexico for an offroad adventure with some guys we work with. I haven't done a ton of offroad driving, especially in these rugged conditions. We did about 250 miles of the Baja 1,000 from Ensenada south to a little town called San Quentin. Here are some pics.
This is Horsepower Ranch where we stayed the first night. Cool looking cars waiting for us under their covers.
Cockpit view. I felt like a real race car driver.
Rest stop on the beach.
Another beach stop where they had a mexican feast waiting for us. There was a lot of Dox Equis (XX) consumed by almost everyone in the group. I stuck with the agua.
Beautiful San Quentin sunset. I bought some little trinkets from a market near here for the kids. Cool little town.
This is Garrett, my riding partner. As you can see by the look in his eyes he is completely crazy. He has a lot of offroad racing experience and so he was in hog heaven. He almost killed us several times, but then again I almost rolled it twice while I was driving.
These machines were super powerful and built to go over some seriously rough terrain. Here we are doing over 90 MPH on the beach.
This is our gang. There were 14 guys in 7 cars plus our guide and a couple of support cars.
The guy sitting in the car is Roberto Guerrero. He's a retired Indy Car driver who raced the Indy 500 4 times and other races all over the world. He still races in the Baja 1,000 every year. Here he was giving us our demo the night before our big run.
This is how we got from San Quentin back to San Diego.

This was our pilot.
